ACAD's first contact with me was their first business move overall, and it turned out to be a really good decision for both of us. For me they were the first client who I helped push to bigger and better successes and for them - they fulfilled their goal of getting a social media following big enough to have clients rolling in at the rate they could barely handle.
Since I was with them at the very start, the company didn't have too much material to work with. So our path was very straightforward, like launching a new startup. Main objectives were:
When you break down big tasks like this into smaller objectives, and you have amazing people at the helm who are willing to follow through, taking a startup from 0 to 100 doesn't have to be hard.
We have to take into consideration that they were very niche - A Chinese design company focused on English speakers only with an added bonus of having lots of prior design work.
That made our work cut out for us. Just like with every design business, the long term strategy was simple - gather a social media following by scheduling daily posts, using hashtags that would attract foreigners in China and also foreigners outside of China who are interested in design.
Facebook presence was only needed for credibility for our ad campaigns. The short term strategy. The ad campaign was well done and it attracted enough customers for them to kickstart their business. The ROI was big enough for them to continue running these ads until they sold the firm.
CPC with our campaign was at $1.12 and CAC was about $6, leaving everything else to ACAD.
These were used to showcase the designs. At first there was no traffic from these sources, but as they fall into the IMPORTANT BUT NOT URGENT part of the business urgency/importance matrix they paid off big in the long run. After about 6 months of constantly posting on these platforms about 60% of their clients were people who came organically through the social media outreach.
It's very important to define clear goals ahead of time and pivot based on results. Every business has a target audience which can be identified, and you need to cater your marketing and targeting to that small portion of prospects instead of going wider and hoping for the best. If that plan is made in the early stages, the road to acceleration can be very quick.
